RISA Sicherheitsanalysen GmbH was founded in 1990 by a research group of the Technical University of Berlin. Since then, the initial field of activities has expanded from probabilistic safety, risk and reliability analysis mainly for nuclear energy plants, to complex information system applications, decision analysis and support tools, optimisation and data analysis for various other industries and engineering offices. Our clientele includes, among others, the railway, automotive, and aviation transportation industries, as well as other public and private institutions.

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer that will join our team in our Athens branch office.

Main Responsibilities

You will be involved in the design and implementation of ICT solutions in European research and commercial projects in a broad range of domains.

Requirements

• University degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related field
• Knowledge of system architecture
• Expert knowledge of Java and Javascript
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
• At least 5 years’ work experience in software design and development
• Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation
• Experience in research and innovation projects (e.g. H2020) is considered a plus

• Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills and reliability

• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, and to collaborate with multinational and multidisciplinary teams of academic and industrial partners in international research projects
• Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies and address challenges
• High quality standards and attention to detail
• Availability for short travels abroad

Desired skills

• Experience in frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, GWT, etc.)
• Experience in backend development (RESTful APIs, SQL, etc.)
• Experience in web development frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
• Experience in coding using Google Earth Engine (Python or JavaScript APIs) or similar open-source geospatial Python packages.
• Knowledge of Linux
• Ability to translate user requirements into technical specifications
• Knowledge of German will be appreciated
