Ο Μπερντ-Αλμπρεχτ φον Μάλτζαν γεννήθηκε στην Βόννη τον Μάρτιο του 1949 και είναι Γερμανός υπήκοος. Φοίτησε στην Γερμανική Σχολή Αθηνών. Σπούδασε οικονομικά στα πανεπιστήμια του Μονάχου και της Βόννης και απέκτησε το 1978 το διδακτορικό του δίπλωμα στην Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων.
Έχει διατελέσει σε σημαντικές θέσεις ευθύνη σε μεγάλους ευρωπαϊκούς και διεθνείς τραπεζικούς οργανισμούς: Πρόεδρος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της EFG Investment (Luxembourg) SA, Μέλος του Δ.Σ. της Asesores y Gestores Financieros SA (Μαδρίτη) από τον Νοέμβριο του 2019, Μέλος του Δ.Σ. της Niagara Stiftung & Co. Holding KG (Μόναχο), Πρώην Πρόεδρος της EFG Bank (Luxembourg) SA (2016–2024) και Πρώην Ανεξάρτητο Μη Εκτελεστικό Μέλος του Δ.Σ. της EFG International AG (2013–2024).
Έχει επίσης διατελέσει σε υψηλόβαθμες θέσεις στη Deutsche Bahn AG, εστιάζοντας σε υπηρεσίες διαχείρισης ιδιωτικού πλούτου, ενώ διετέλεσε μέλος του εποπτικού συμβουλίου της Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, μίας εκ των μεγαλύτερων εταιρειών καταναλωτικών προϊόντων στη Γερμανία.
Τον Μάρτιο του 2024, αποχώρησε από το διοικητικό συμβούλιο της EFG International AG, παραχωρώντας τη θέση του στην Prasanna Gopalakrishnan, στέλεχος με ειδίκευση στον τομέα της τεχνολογίας.
In order to extend its Board of Directors, and the number of independent members, EFG International has nominated two new directors for approval at its Annual General Meeting, scheduled for 26 April 2013:
– Nico H. Burki. Born in 1950 and a Swiss citizen. Founder of Burki Attorneys-at- Law in Zurich, and practices as an attorney-at-law, a certified Swiss tax expert and a Trust and Estate Practitioner. Prior to this, was a partner in the law firm Bär & Karrer, and was previously a tax lawyer for Arthur Andersen in Zurich. Graduated from the University of St. Gallen and holds a doctorate in law from the University of Basel.
– Bernd-A. von Maltzan. Born in 1949 and a German citizen. Held a variety of senior positions in Deutsche Bank, including Divisional Board member and Global Head of Private Banking followed by Divisional Board member and Vice Chairman, Private Wealth Management in Frankfurt. Studied economics at the universities of Munich and Bonn and holds a doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Bonn.
